As a biologist, I’m interested in understanding how the nervous system affects animal behaviors. My graduate thesis investigated how the brain controls a bird’s ability to switch from singing a messy song when he is by himself, to singing a cleaner or “stereotyped” song when around potential mates. I’ve always loved science, but I realized my passion for science writing and communications during my first semester of grad school after attending ComSciCon. In 2020, I was a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at The Dallas Morning News! Read some of my stories here. Now, I’m the Marketing Communications Specialist at the Hariri Institute for Computing.
